Raphaël Abou

  • Delegate Administrator

After studying as a sales support engineer at Solvay Business School, Raphäel Abou completed his military service before joining Bank Degroof.

Assigned to the Private Banking department, Raphaël Abou quickly moved across to Corporate Finance. “This is where, working alongside seasoned professionals, I learned the full spectrum of what I need for my current job. At the end of 2004, I decided to leave the bank to do the same work for customers in the world of small and medium-sized business.”

During this first experience of entrepreneurship, Raphaël specialised in IPOs. “In hardly two and a half years we conducted seven IPOs. Gradually the company grew. We developed a fund-raising business and also provided support for mergers, acquisitions and disposals. At the same time, we started up our managerial finance business, through which we help entrepreneurs to answer the questions they ask when it comes to making strategic decisions.

Raphaël Abou sees his work as, above all, a vocation. “Our business is essentially about meeting people: contact with entrepreneurs, people who have, at some point in their life, said: “I’m going to take a risk”. These people have a completely different way of looking at things, and generally have a wide skill set. Entrepreneurship is about developing. Growing, expanding. People with this profile are in perpetual motion. They hate stability, they thrive in a moving environment."

Marc Kobylinski

  • Executive Director

Graduate of the Louvain School of Management (LSM), Marc Kobylinski spent his final study year at the University of Texas as part of an exchange programme. He notably discovered the new trends in technology and their impact on business development strategy.

Joining Accenture as a consultant in 2001, he was exposed to the fallout from the dotcom bubble. “Companies slashed their consulting budgets. At this point, my literacy with the new technologies kept me at Accenture’s IT division, before I moved on to strategic and operational consultancy.”

Marc Kobylinski joined the Allyum team in 2009. “What I enjoy is the focus on entrepreneurship and more specifically on growth: we are not here to cut costs but to create corporate growth strategies or manage merger, acquisition and financing projects. We also need to be very quick to develop an excellent understanding of the ecosystems in which our customers do their business.“

Marc Kobylinski is particularly attached to what he calls the golden triangle: strategy, operations and finance. “We don’t limit ourselves to a purely financial approach to a company: we try to really understand a customer’s business before making any financial recommendations. We start off from a strategic issue, and look at it through the financial prism, factoring in the operational constraints. Our customers buy into the approach and, above all, into our capacity to innovate in territories that are uncharted for them.”

Martin Delépine

  • Senior Manager

While a student in Management Sciences at FUCAM (UCL Mons), Martin Delépine decided to specialise in auditing and management control.

On graduating, he made a natural move by joining Deloitte, one of the biggest auditors operating in Belgium. “Auditing is an opportunity to meet companies of all sizes in different sectors and gain a first real experience of company financing. However, I quickly realised that my career path did not lie there. I was more interested in the “advisory” aspect, the idea of making my knowledge available to customers. In 2009, I joined Allyum to work there on Corporate Finance missions and on the development of the Managerial Finance business.”

Martin Delépine is particularly attached to the versatility that is a big part of his job at Allyum. “Each team member has their own special skills but is asked to contribute to a wide range of projects.“

“Working with many different customers in very different sectors gives us a very broad experience and this we can feed back into our customer relations. For company managers, we are often a sounding board: they can use us to try out their ideas and discuss them in complete confidentiality. Our position outside the company means that we can give an impartial opinion and say things as they are.“

Louis Poot Baudier

  • Corporate Finance Manager

Louis Poot Baudier holds a master from ICHEC and a master in Financial Management from Vlerick Business School.

Louis started his career as an Associate Trainee within Fortis Merchant Banking (now BNPParibas Corporate and Investment Banking). During two years, he had the opportunity to work for various departments, both in New York and in Brussels. Afterwards, Louis seized the opportunity to work in the Corporate Banking division as a Relationship Manager where he managed a portfolio of Blue Chip companies. During this period he passed the CFA exam level 2.

After an experience as a consultant at PwC in the Debt and Capital Advisory team in Brussels, Louis decided to join Allyum as a Corporate Finance Manager. “Beyond my strong interest in the M&A sector, I was seduced by the team’s energy and sense of entrepreneurship”.

“I am fascinated by M&A and fund raising operations because it gives you the opportunity to understand, challenge and build the strategy of a company. As an advisor, you become a close partner to the entrepreneur, the shareholders and the management. Not only you provide solutions to your client, you support the company in its growth and transformation process”.

Michaël Rixhon

  • Business Analyst

During his studies in business management at Solvay Brussels School Michaël Rixhon decided to specialize in entrepreneurship. During this first experience Michaël develops affinities for the SME’s world and corporate finance.

Once graduated, he decides to deepen his knowledge of financial markets. In addition, Michaël starts his career at BNY Mellon as account administrator in collateral management for some of the bank’s biggest clients. In the meantime, Michaël completes a complementary master in financial risk management at University of Saint-Louis.

“This experience gave me the opportunity to understand the banking world and related financial risk management principles. Similarly, I learned how to develop the client facing aspect of a job. Furthermore, I have developed some timeliness in my decision making.

However, I quickly understood I did not want to continue my career there. I was still looking for the client facing side but particularly for the advisory part. Finally, I had the impression to never seen the output of my actions.”

In 2016, Michaël decided to join Allyum as financial analyst where he takes part in different managerial and corporate finance missions.

“I found Allyum as attractive because of the team’s expertise and the idea to daily benefit from it. In addition, I really wanted to orient my career through the SME’s world and corporate finance”. Besides, the possibility to become polyvalent and to participate in both managerial and corporate finance missions conducted my decision”.

“What I found fascinating at Allyum’s jobs is to study and understand a SME to the smallest details. Before having a look at figures, one has to go through a dynamic approach of the SME: to understand the company’s ecosystem, its strategy and the operational processes implemented to become the leader.

Lastly, M&A and fund raising operations are particularly attractive. Indeed, you are at the borders between the regulatory, the financial and the relational. You support the company’s growth”.

Steven Couturier

  • Business Analyst

After completing his master’s degree in Business Engineering at the KU Leuven, specialising in Finance, Steven Couturier decided to complement this degree with a postgraduate in Finance & Securities at the Ehsal Management School in Brussels. “I believe this mix of academic knowledge and practical applications provide me with the ideal preparation for a successful career in Finance.”

In order to pursue his passion for Corporate Finance, Steven decided to launch his career as an intern at Degroof Petercam’s Corporate Finance team in Brussels. As part of a seasoned M&A team, he was able to develop crucial knowledge and skills that have already proven valuable for Allyum and our clients. Furthermore, Steven is dedicated to extend his capabilities in Finance by entering the CFA curriculum.

Steven Couturier is thrilled to fulfil the role of Financial Analyst at Allyum where he participates in various Corporate and Managerial Finance missions. “I was immediately enthusiastic about the passionate and entrepreneurial vision here at Allyum. Moreover, I am absolutely delighted to be part of an extremely qualitative and dynamic Corporate Finance team that is committed to deliver excellent results every day.”

“Because of Allyum’s focus on Small- and Mid-size enterprises, we are privileged to work with passionate and skilled entrepreneurs every day. Every mission, our clients are able to convey that passion for their business, which motivates us to accompany our clients in the best possible manner. To experience this shared entrepreneurial spirit with our clients is what I enjoy most about working here at Allyum.”

“Furthermore, what attracts me about the M&A and capital raising business is that in order to become an adequate partner for our clients, we first need to understand our client’s business completely. Only when we established that understanding, we are able to find the ideal solution in the development or transformation of our client’s business. But in order to generate those solutions for our clients we need to challenge ourselves every mission.”

Annelies Dejonckheere

  • Business Development & Marketing Manager

On graduating the English Master of Science in Communication with a specialization in Information society and Globalization at the VUB, Annelies decided to join the French based international recruitment player Adneom in 2012 as a Business Manager within the engineering division. Throughout this first experience, she reconsidered her career path and quickly realized that it was not lying in HR.

“I was getting more and more interested in how a company is able to grow and reach the outlined goals, opening a way to new growth possibilities, preferably within innovation.” That is why she joined Ayming in 2013, as an innovation sales consultant where she rapidly moved towards the position of regional account manager. The focus of her position was lying in business value performance programs concerning tax optimisation for Belgian SME’s and their European branches.

After about 4 years in the corporate tax advisory field and having the experience of working with companies in different sectors, she had an entrepreneurial itch to scratch and decided to join the startup project of AllyumLab called Serious Funding. “It amazed me how an idea can be formed into a real business and I wanted to back this up with my commercial experience and learn how to tackle startup grow pains.”

Soon she decided to boost her educational background with an INSEAD business certificate. Developing her ability to think more strategically and make sure to align the organization’s internal resources and capabilities. Taking value approach to navigate business decisions and drive sustainable competitive advantage.

She joined the Allyum team in the summer of 2017 as Business Development & Marketing manager to develop the company’s commercial reach and marketing initiatives backing them up. “Helping companies find the best solution to their corporate transaction needs and enabling them to effectively reach their growth strategies.” This value proposition lies in the core of our competitive advantage.
